Special Day

A special moment - one of those watershed moments - when you know your life changed for the better, and you are surrounded by friends.

Wedding pictures

i just downloaded all our wedding pictures finally from the different locations all over.  I am very sure there are hundreds of other shots that just did not get collected from different people who took photos during the wedding.  I'm sure one day they will send them over *nudge* *nudge*

We are thinking of putting together a few compilations and printing photobooks!  Any ideas anyone?

Christmas

I really think cats are smarter than humans. When they are at play, they are so amusing, and they are absolutely adorable when they want to be.

Christmas is a very beautiful cat and keeps Mr. Sparks happy.

Percy

Percy the Mercy. When i was in Indonesia, some people called a Mercedes Benz a Mercy and the C200 was called a baby Mercy. That has stuck with me over the years. So when i was given the chance to own this lovely car, i jumped at it. Thanks to my bro, i got to take care of Percy for 2 glorious years. As things happen, and usually these things happen in unexpected ways, i will have to part with Percy. It had always been my dream to rebuild this car to make it the best Mercy SLC in Singapore. It helps that dear wife is equally in love with him(she named him after all) and it was one of those things we did together on weekends, to workshops, trolling through the internet for parts and all the fun stuff associated with the upkeep of a classic car.Little did we expect that all our plans to restore, run and eventually hand this car to our kids would be thwarted by an email.

HDB contest

Here are my possible submissions for the next HDB contest or life in singapore contest or something like that. Each of these shots had a different set of difficulties that i had to deal with. I learnt a lot about exposure, shutter speed and even something as simple as breathing and taking a steady shot.

Check out the cool sculpture - can you guess who did that?

My next idea is to get a proper set-up for crazed female driver or dangerous driving ... featuring some friends.

Ong family outing

Here are the first attempts at getting some "posed" shots and although the plan was to get shots for a contest, the best ones were actually ones where nothing was planned. I just sat in a corner somewhere and snapped away during playtime.

It was no stress, took about an hour and the end result was a set of pics that i think left me with some really useful lessons about taking photos in the outdoors, and hopefully some memorable shots.

Tikky

I don't know what it is about terriers. They are just so cute. Tik a.k.a. tikus has the silkiest coat of fur in the world. This pic was taken during an outing to take some shots for a contest which i eventually didn't enter. There were too many rules - pic format, pic size, you must put it in an evelope with a certain size etc etc. Well it was too much stress - why not just post up pics and let people vote? I guess i could crop this to make it a better shot?

Anyway back to the subject - the light was not perfect but we tried to get some shots in. This was the first few to get the settings right. Check out the family outing thats posted up next.

Chicky

Here's a better effort some time later when i gave up trying to make adjustments to the pictures i took, and instead discovered "White Balance" and ISO on the camera. Everyone said that i should RTFM, but i prefer to play with the camera...

This is the rabbit standing motionless, just before she pounces on her toy!

Such a sweetie!

Bongo

This shot was taken in the first day when i got a camera. I don't think i did justice to the shot, in some ways the balance is not quite right and the shadows take away a lot of the detail. I'm sure there is some technical word for it...

But what i think this shot captured was that happy vibe, that unspoken message that says "Hey there! I wuv you! Woof!"

CAT-DOG

I have always preferred candid shots rather than shots for which there is an excessive amount of posing. So most of my shots are without the benefit of a studio setup. No fancy lighting, no professional models etc etc.

So what to do on one of those lazy weekends?

Take picture of CAT-DOG.

One day my friend Mark zzzt zzzzt Sparks found Christmas on Christmas day in 2008 .. in a drain.  He nurtured her and as you can see, she is lovely.

When Mark thought that she was lonely, he literally rescued Marianne from one of those Pasir Ris shelters.  What a sweet mini greyhound.

They live happily together as they don't know they are supposed to be mortal enemies. So much we can learn from them, eh?

Well my friend, if you are reading this - if you can make a home for mortal enemies ...

First thoughts

I've always wanted to find a place where i can post my pictures.  Some of them suck, some of them surprised me, but all of them try to do one thing - they Capture the Moment.

I know some of you are already thinking dirty thoughts... and you'd be surprised how many sites are titled capture the moment, but have nothing to do with photography.  well they do have a lot to do with photography, but it is not for general consumption.

Come to think of it, a lot of blogs are titled "Capture the moment" ... so i admit i was not very original with the title.

There are some pictures here that are decidedly out there, but i hope that you enjoy them.
